Alistair Kaye – Vicar

16th April 2019 by laurah

I’m Alistair the Vicar of St Luke’s. I have lived over 20 years in Leeds, but grew up in Watford and am originally from Australia. I’m currently on a period of leave till the end of October please contact a member of the other clergy in the meantime.

I am married to Sue, and we have a daughter (Shona) and son (Callum) along with their wonderful partners plus two grandchildren. We both enjoy walking the Dales, and I particularly love swimming, football (the Hornets) and anything outdoors!

We have worked in an inner-city context for many years. I did my first curacy in Bradford in Great Horton parish, before moving to Rushden in Northamptonshire where we helped plant a church. We returned to Yorkshire in 1998 where I became vicar of Christchurch, Upper Armley, Leeds. From Armley I became the Deanery Missioner before joining St Lukes in 2013.

And here’s an interview with Al from 2018

Beginner English Classes (ESOL)

22nd August 2016 by laurah

Learn English card with colorful background
St. Luke’s Beginner’s ESOL English for Speakers of Other Languages, for parents and their children.
This pilot project works with families who are new to the UK, particularly refugees, and we hope to see it develop and grow in future. We provide fun craft activities for the kids (with a language element), whilst the parents have some space to learn English.  At the end the parents can re-join their children, and start to use their English to find out what  their children have made or done. At the moment class is for beginners only and  there are a limited number places.
For any more information, please call Sue Kaye on: 0113 2717996

Prayer Ministry

26th April 2016 by laurah

Praying for each other is a really normal part of Christian community. There’s always people available who can pray with you any time – about any issue (sickness, uncertainty, decisions, family and friends, depression…). Speak to one of the team, send us an email, or drop into the church. We’d love to support you in this way. Contact us here.

We also have a team who are available on Sundays at the 10.30am service – if you’re with us on Sunday, come and speak to one of the team.
